AARP Hawai`i Offers Online Tech Classes for Kupuna

From food to fitness, and YouTube to Twitter – there’s an app for that and AARP Hawai`i, AARP Alaska and Senior Planet are teaming up to offer free weekly online classes to teach kupuna how to use the technology on Friday mornings, starting Oct. 13.

The first class is on Protecting Your Personal Information Online. Kupuna and others who want to learn how to be safe online can register at events.aarp.org/HITech or go to aarp.org/hi or the AARP Hawai`i Facebook page and click on Events to see and register for all the webinars and in-person events AARP is offering.

The online technology classes will be taught by Older Adults Technology Services, also known as OATS or Senior Planet, an AARP-affiliated nonprofit group that has been helping kupuna learn and use technology since 2004.

All classes will be offered on Zoom and begin at 9 a.m. Hawai`i time/11 a.m. Alaska time on Fridays from Oct. 13 through Nov.4. The Nov. 10 and Nov. 17 classes will be at 10 a.m. Hawai`i time/ 11 a.m. Alaska time when Daylight Savings Time is in effect. You must pre-register to get a Zoom link. The classes are free and available to anyone. You do not have to be an AARP member.
