AARP Indiana is growing its volunteer team

Volunteers and staff hang out at Brewfest.
AARP Indiana is seeking new volunteers to join our statewide team.

AARP Indiana is growing its volunteer team.

Volunteers from across the state make an impact on our communities through outreach, advocacy, and service, and we’re looking to expand our footprint.

“Volunteering with AARP Indiana is a unique opportunity for people who want to make a difference,” AARP Indiana State President Linda Dunno said. “Our volunteers do it all, from engaging the community around quality of life issues to directly advocating on behalf of the 50-plus with elected officials.”

AARP Indiana has five entry-level, geographically based volunteer teams that Hoosiers can join. They are focused on Gary, Fort Wayne, Indianapolis, Evansville, and all the rural and suburban communities in between – the Hoosier State Action Team.

Each team advances AARP Indiana’s priorities – such as making Hoosier communities more livable, supporting family caregivers, ensuring the financial security of the 50-plus, encouraging civic engagement, and more – through volunteerism.

This volunteerism looks like interacting with elected officials and advocating for older people, hosting community events and presentations, and engaging in the virtual space to provide critical perspective on issues like aging-in-place and voting.

If you’re looking for an opportunity to make an impact, look no further. You can join our team by completing a volunteer application, or by attending a volunteer call-out in your community or via Zoom.
