Helping Older Hoosiers to Age in Place

Fort Wayne Age Friendly Survey Cover

AARP is partnering with the state of Indiana to fund projects aimed at improving communities so residents can age in place.

The Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority’s CreatINg Places is a crowdfunding grant program that allows local governments and organizations to raise money from the public. The state then matches that dollar amount. The money funds projects and activities, such as improving public parks, creating bike and pedestrian paths and providing public Wi-Fi.

AARP Indiana is adding to that mission with a supplemental pilot program called CreatINg Livable Communities that offers additional funding from AARP for projects focused on helping Hoosiers to age in place.

Eligible applicants must raise $5,000 to $50,000 in crowd-funded dollars to receive matching funds from either initiative. To learn more, go to the CreatINg Places webpage.
