The high cost of prescription drugs continues to be a tough challenge for Hoosiers that are 50-plus, putting a stranglehold on household income, personal healthcare, and an overall quality of life.

AARP Indiana is helping lead the charge to Stop Rx Greed and was able to sit down this week with US Senator Mike Braun for a Tele-town Hall on this critical issue.

Thousands of older Hoosiers from across the state were able to tell their stories about high drug costs as well as ask Senator Braun questions about what can be done in Washington DC.

Braun had tough questions for the pharmaceutical industry himself.
He asked, “Why don’t drug companies put the cost of their drugs in their commercials?”

In closing, Braun said the industry should take steps to fix itself and embrace competition and transparency because otherwise government will have to get involved.

If you missed the chance to hear from Senator Braun on prescription drug costs during the Tele-town Hall, you can view or listen to excerpts or the call with AARP Indiana State Director Sarah Waddle here.

“We appreciate Senator Braun’s time and attention to the issue of high prescription drug costs,” Waddle said. “There is momentum in Congress to make prescription drugs more affordable for the 50-plus community, and we hope to see this kind of leadership from Senator Braun continue.”
