Veterans Outreach Committee

The AARP Maryland Veterans Outreach Committee hosted Maryland Veterans Administration Secretary Anthony Woods at a luncheon, attended by staff, volunteers and community partners. We shared AARP's activities on behalf of veterans and the military community and received updates on important issues, including progress on improving conditions at the Charlotte Hall Veterans Home and plans for the construction of a new veterans home on the Eastern Shore, and efforts to support military families.
"Ask the Question" Aims to Combat Military Suicides
AARP Maryland is a proud supporter of Ask the Question, Governor Moore's action plan to identify and assist service members, veterans and their families at risk for suicide.
A toolkit for governments, providers, and businesses is now available. This toolkit provides information on why it is important to screen for military service, how to ask the question, and what to do when a service member, veteran, or family member indicates their connection to the military. The toolkit contains a script, resources, and other materials for implementing “Ask The Question” campaigns within their organizations. Learn more HERE.
