Forum on Rx drug prices cancelled

The conversation about reducing the price of prescription drugs, that was scheduled for the Lansing Center on Dec. 9, has been cancelled.

The forum, "Don't Cut Pills, Cut Profits," will be rescheduled in early 2020. Updates about the new date will appear here.

AARP earlier this year launched its "Stop Rx Greed Campaign" in response to our members and others who have said that skyrocketing prices for lifesaving and quality-of-life medications have put undue burdens on family budgets.

The average annual cost of prescription medicine increased 58% between 2012 and 2017, while the annual income of Michiganders increased less than 11%. About one-third of Michiganders whose doctors have prescribed drugs do not take the medications, citing unaffordable prices as the main reason.
