AARP Eye Center
AARP Michigan and the older Michiganders the organization represents had a great year in the State Legislature.
Together, we successfully advocated for bills that provide help for caregivers, improve health care access and better enable state residents to remain in their homes as long as possible, among other accomplishments.

All year long, AARP Michigan staff and volunteers advocate on policy issues that matter most to Michigan residents age 50 and over and their families. We publish an annual AARP Michigan State Legislative Agenda that we share with Michigan’s State Representatives, State Senators, Governor, AARP members and the public.
Throughout the legislative session, we notify legislators of our positions on bills through committee testimony, emailed and hand-delivered letters to legislators, one-on-one meetings, social media, our website, media interviews, and more.
Our End of Session Report looks back on our state advocacy work over the past two years. It summarizes the bills on AARP Michigan’s Legislative Agenda that passed in 2015-2016 as well as the bills that AARP supported that did not pass in 2015-2016, and which may provide opportunities for 2017.
Michigan’s 99 th Legislature will convene at the State Capitol today to start its new legislative session.
