Through Their Eyes: World War II Veterans Share Their Stories: The Greatest Generation Remembered, 80 Years After World War II
This September marks the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II. The Greatest Generation—those who served in uniform or supported the war effort on the home front—embodied unity, perseverance, and sacrifice in the face of unimaginable hardship. Eighty years ago, their courage and commitment to freedom helped bring one of the most devastating conflicts in human history to an end, laying the foundation for much of the progress and prosperity we enjoy today.
Now, thanks to the work of VeteransArchives.org, AARP Michigan is proud to share the stories of five World War II veterans, preserved through video interviews and told in their own voices. These first-hand accounts open a window into the past, allowing history to be seen through the eyes of those who lived it—stories of service, struggle, faith, and enduring hope.
Floyd Price, USN – Floyd’s Navy service during one of history’s fiercest conflicts forged his strength and resilience. His story continues to inspire generations. Watch his story.

As we commemorate the 80th anniversary of World War II’s end, the legacy of the Greatest Generation endures not only in history books, but in the words and memories of those who served. Through the work of VeteransArchives.org and events like Greatest Generation Celebration 2025, their voices live on—reminding us of the power of unity and resilience in shaping a better future.
