AARP Celebrates Black History Month with Gospel Music at the Symphony

When you hear the word symphony, you may only think classical music. But February 12, 2016 at 7:30PM, the St. Louis Symphony offers a special night of gospel music. Joining the symphony is the 120-voice IN UNISON® Chorus led by Kevin McBeth, director of music and worship at Manchester United Methodist Church.

The chorus was started in 1994. Its members assumed that it would be a one-time event. Instead, the IN UNISON® Chorus has become a part of the St. Louis Symphony family performing “Lift Every Voice” for the last 21 consecutive years.   Each year a special musical guest joins the performance. This year’s guest is five-time Grammy winner and Gospel Hall of Fame inductee, Larnelle Harris.
