AARP Mid-City Chapter 5253 invites the public to attend an educational program on living with Alzheimer’s disease.

The event will be held in Omaha on Saturday, July 26 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Malcolm X Foundation, 3448 Evans St. Refreshments will be served.

Featured speakers from the Alzheimer’s Midlands Chapter are Vivyonne Ewing, President, and Clayton Freeman, Program and Public Policy Director.

According to the Alzheimer’s Association website, “many Americans dismiss the warning signs of Alzheimer’s, believing that these symptoms are a normal part of aging. This is of even greater concern for African-Americans, who are two times more likely to develop late-onset Alzheimer’s disease than whites and less likely to have a diagnosis of their condition, resulting in less time for treatment and planning.”

For more information about the program, call Mary at (402) 457-5169.
