AARP Leads on Big Win for Seniors!

Rx Drug Prices are Skyrocketing

Dear AARP Member,

Together, we took on Big Pharma and won! Thank you.

AARP members, volunteers, and activists from across the country called on Congress to lower prescription drug prices, and they finally acted! After decades of urging Congress to make medications more affordable, we won the fight for Medicare to negotiate lower drug
prices and help people save money on the medicine they need.

This new law will save money for seniors and taxpayers by:
• Finally allowing Medicare to negotiate the price of drugs.
• Limiting the cost of insulin to $35/month for people on Medicare.
• Penalizing drugmakers for raising their prices higher than inflation
for people on Medicare.
• Giving Medicare Part D enrollees peace of mind knowing they won’t
have to pay more than $2,000 a year for their medications.
• Making many vaccines, such as shingles, available at no cost in Medicare.

This bill will save lives while saving money for millions of Americans. Negotiating lower prices will save Medicare, and taxpayers, hundreds of billions of dollars.

Thank you for joining us in this fight—your AARP membership and the actions of AARP’s volunteers and activists made this win possible. Your members of Congress stood up to Big Pharma and helped lead the charge. They listened to their constituents and voted to save seniors money on their medications.

This is a historic victory, but the fight isn’t over. Drug companies will spend millions to overturn the new law, so they can keep charging Americans the highest prices in the world. AARP will keep fighting, and we won’t back down.
