Thank You, AARP Vermont Volunteers!

April is National Volunteer Month. It presents the perfect opportunity to express our gratitude to our exceptional volunteers across Vermont.

Our volunteers are skilled, dedicated, and passionate about giving back to their communities and helping the 50-plus population live their best lives. As we reflect on the remarkable work of our volunteers, it is impossible to fully measure their impact or the way they’ve touched countless lives. Today, dozens of AARP Vermont volunteers make life better for people in their neighborhoods, communities, and throughout the state.

We honor our incredible AARP and AARP Foundation volunteers for their unwavering dedication to improving the aging experience for thousands of people across Vermont. From advocating for issues that matter in our communities to fighting fraud and isolation. Supporting caregivers, to helping people file their taxes. Teaching older adults how to remain safe drivers or improve their tech skills, and helping to make communities more livable. You inspire us with your generosity and grace.

Our founder and very first AARP volunteer, Dr. Ethel Percy Andrus, framed the opportunity like this, “The challenge [is] to live up to our better selves, to believe well of our fellow men and perhaps by doing so to help create the good, to experiment, to explore, to change, and to grow.”

That is a mighty challenge indeed, but it is one that AARP and AARP Foundation volunteers have embraced in every way imaginable. They do so with humility, and to them, we are forever grateful.

“They are a necessary and vital force in achieving AARP’s mission of empowering people to choose how they live as they age,” said AARP Vermont State Director Greg Marchildon. “From hosting local events to advocating with their lawmakers on issues that impact older Vermonters, our volunteers make a difference in their communities and in our state. We sincerely thank you all for contributing your time and talent to AARP.”
