The AARP ‘Movies for Grownups’ series will feature a free screening of The Intern on Wednesday, Jan. 27 at 7 p.m. at Willow Creek Cinemas, 2701 3 rd Ave N, Escanaba.
The critically acclaimed movie stars Robert DeNiro as Ben Whitaker, a 70-year-old widower who has discovered that retirement isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Seizing an opportunity to get back in the game, he becomes a senior intern at an online fashion site, founded and run by Jules Ostin (Anne Hathaway).
The film tackles a variety of issues including ageism and sexism in the workplace; intergenerational relationships; marital pressures; and dating at 50-plus, among others.
