WASHINGTON, DC — AARP reacted today to new survey findings from GfK MRI that AARP The Magazine is officially America’s most-read magazine. AARP The Magazine, AARP’s monthly magazine and flagship publication, continues to serve as a primary source of information and entertainment for people age 50-plus – with a readership of 38.3 million – the largest of any magazine in the U.S., according to data from market research firm GfK MRI.
In less than 10 years, AARP The Magazine has moved from America’s fourth most-read magazine to No. 1, while increasing readership by 5.1 million. According to the latest MRI data, two-thirds (66%) of AARP The Magazine readers read four out of four issues, a figure that has remained steady in 10+ years of measurement.
“We are honored for AARP The Magazine to be recognized by MRI as America’s most-read magazine and look forward to AARP The Magazine continuing to deliver strong value for readers and advertisers alike,” said AARP CEO Jo Ann Jenkins.
Following AARP The Magazine in readership numbers are People, Better Homes and Gardens, National Geographic, The Costco Connection, Good Housekeeping, Reader’s Digest, Time, Sports Illustrated and Southern Living, according to MRI.
Every month, AARP The Magazine delivers high quality content via three versions of the magazine, each geared to a different demographic – one for readers age 50 to 59, one for those 60 to 69, and one for those 70-plus. AARP The Magazine includes health and fitness features, financial guidance, consumer information and tips, celebrity interviews, and book and movie reviews. AARP has published its magazine for members since its founding in 1958.
