Legislative Updates

The Alaska Legislature convenes for 121 days from January to May each year. Each Legislature has a two-year session in which legislators, caucuses, and committees remain consistent, and bills carry over from one year to the next. The Alaska Legislature, however, must pass a budget every year.

Visit www.akleg.gov to access the Alaska Legislative website.

Each year, AARP Alaska prioritizes three to five policies or funding requests to put our advocacy muscle behind. You can find our 2025 priorities here (or download them here).

AARP Alaska also publishes an annual wrap-up report at the conclusion of the session.
