AARP Hearing Center
Age-Friendly Anchorage is a volunteer-driven initiative sponsored by AARP Alaska, committed to creating a community where everyone—regardless of age or ability—can live, work, play, and thrive. Anchorage is part of AARP's national Network of Age-Friendly States and Communities (NAFSC), a group of cities across the country, all working to build a more age-friendly world for Americans of all ages.
Many communities in the AARP Network of Age-Friendly States and Communities - including Anchorage - use the eight domains of livability to guide their efforts and set priorities for making life better for people of all ages.
Why It Matters
Anchorage’s 50+ population is the fastest-growing demographic in Alaska. This trend drives our mission to ensure that our city remains inclusive and vibrant for people of all ages, backgrounds, abilities, financial circumstances, and cultures.
Our Goal
A community that values:
- Accessibility for all abilities
- Inclusivity across cultures and generations
- Opportunities to live, work, and play at every stage of life
