During these difficult times, AARP Arizona is creating virtual events to make sure people stay healthy and safe while connected and entertained.

Bang a drum, cook a new dish, or try out a yoga stretch with a series of free online courses. Upcoming events include:

Tuesdays, Dec. 1 and Dec. 15, from 10 to 10:30 a.m., fitness coach SherriAnne Little of Next Level Endurance will livestream a wellness and nutrition series on AARP Arizona’s Facebook page, facebook.com/aarparizona

Thursday, Dec. 3, from 10 to 11 a.m., join the Expresso Yourself Memory Café, via Zoom, for interactive arts activities with a holiday theme for people with dementia and their caregivers.

Saturday, Dec. 12, and Wednesday, Dec. 16, from 10 to 11 a.m., join Frank Thompson of AZ Rhythm Connection, who will lead a virtual drum circle on Zoom and Facebook. No musical training or instrument required. Thompson demonstrates how to make “found sounds” with everything from wooden spoons and coffee cans to a box of mac and cheese.

Saturday, Dec. 19, from 9 to 10 a.m., enjoy morning yoga, via Zoom, led by Sutra Studios and sponsored by the city of Phoenix.

All events are free and open to the public, but you must register.
