AARP Challenge Grants Awarded to 3 Delaware Organizations

It’s been harder for people to see their grandchildren during the pandemic, but thanks to an AARP Community Challenge grant, Delawareans have found a way to connect.

The Delaware Children’s Museum in Wilmington was one of three First State Challenge grant winners. Its award will pay for a specialized online curriculum with remote activities that kids and their grandparents can do together. The museum also offered activity bags.

Other winners include New Castle County’s Latin American Community Center, which used its grant for virtual outreach to the Latino community. Its Know Your Rights sessions are focused on informing residents about the coronavirus.

The group Cornerstone West Community Development Corp. brought its community together to complete the 4th St. Community Mural Project on a building adjacent to a park in Wilmington.
