AARP DELAWARE NAMES BONNIE WU AS ASSOCIATE STATE DIRECTOR OF ADVOCACY TO LEAD EFFORTS TO MAKE LIFE BETTER FOR DELAWAREANS AGE 50 AND OLDER

AARP Delaware State Director Lucretia Young has named Bonnie Wu as Associate State Director for Advocacy. This new hire will usher in a new era of strategic advocacy, providing Delawareans with more choices for how they live as they age. AARP Delaware serves 192,000 members in Delaware.

 Bonnie Wu is a skillful and strategic leader in the public policy realm. She has a proven track record of demonstrating strong leadership, with extensive experience in building and maintaining relationships across government, business, nonprofit, and other community sectors.

 Ms. Wu joins AARP from the Brandywine SPCA where she held the role of Chief of Staff, offering strategic counsel to the CEO and oversight of complex tasks. Prior to that role, she held numerous key leadership positions at the Office of Senator Tom Carper. Most recently, she was Regional Director for the Senator. In that role, she led strategic initiatives and represented the Senator at public events, including speeches, town halls, and legislative discussions. She actively managed the Senator's engagement in federal projects within Delaware, providing policy recommendations and insights. As Senator Carper's Campaign Manager, she led him to his 12th statewide victory. Additionally, she held the role of Deputy Press Secretary for the Senator at the beginning of her tenure.

A native Delawarean, Bonnie Wu graduated from Tower Hill School in 1995 and eventually earned a Master of Arts degree in Communications from University of Delaware. Recently, she was appointed to the Delaware Commission on Asian and Pacific Islander Heritage and Culture. She resides in Hockessin with her family.
