AARP Delaware's Winning Year at the State Legislature

ADVOCACY highlighted in green

A raft of new laws that will help people 50 and older passed the state General Assembly this year.

One measure bans businesses from asking job applicants for age-revealing information like birth dates, thus making it harder for employers to automatically screen out older workers. A new family-and-medical leave law will provide paid time off with health care benefits for employees so they can care for a new child or an ailing family member. Starting in 2026, the caregiving benefit will be available at companies with 25 or more workers

And with an expected 2025 start date, the Delaware EARNS law will let more workers at small businesses save for retirement through automatic payroll deductions.
