Delawareans need paid leave to care for loved ones

Workers in Delaware, including family caregivers, must be able to take the time they need to care for themselves and their loved ones. The Coronavirus Pandemic has put a spotlight on this issue and the importance of having time and resources to care for loved ones.

That's why AARP Delaware fully supports the Healthy Delaware Families Act, or Senate Bill 1. The bill will ensure every working Delawarean can access paid family and medical leave when they need it most, providing up to 12 weeks of paid leave for anyone facing a qualifying event, including welcoming a new child, addressing a serious medical condition, caring for a family member with a serious medical condition, or addressing the impact of domestic violence or a family member’s military deployment.
