AARP AARP States Delaware Livable Communities

Grants Aim to Improve Local Communities

Five Delaware entities won AARP 2023 Community Challenge grants, aimed at helping make communities more livable for all ages. The grantees include:

  • Nurses Nextdoor in Rehoboth Beach received $5,500 to provide transportation vouchers for adults who are unable to drive.
  • The Delaware Art Museum in Wilmington won $15,000 to hire and train 10 residents to conserve 30 public artworks, many of which are in disrepair.
  • Also in Wilmington, two organizations were awarded $20,000 to support “Open Streets” events that temporarily close city streets to vehicle traffic to create safe spaces for walking, biking and other activities.
