AARP Hawai`i Presents Free Brain Health Webinar

Learn about the latest research on Alzheimer’s disease and dementia and steps you can take to improve your brain health at a free webinar and Facebook Live on Wednesday, March 2nd at 10 a.m.

Dr. Kamal Masaki, chair of the Department of Geriatric Medicine at the John A. Burns School of Medicine, will share information about the latest brain health research and ways to keep your brain healthy. The workshop, which runs from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. will also cover what happens to your brain during normal aging and what you should know about dementia. Dr. Masaki will explain the different types of dementia, risk factors, symptoms, diagnosis and treatment.

Participants who register for a Zoom link will also get a chance to ask questions. Questions can also be posted in the comments for those who watch on Facebook. The webinar will also be simulcast on the AARP Hawai`i Facebook page. The webinar is free and you do not have to be an AARP member to attend.

Dr. Masaki will also present a second webinar on Wednesday March 9 at 10 a.m. on Aging and Medicine: What You Need to Know.

Participants will learn about key issues related to aging and pharmacology including how age affects the taking of medications, risk factors for adverse drug effects, drug to drug and drug to disease interactions and good principles of prescribing medications for older patients.
