AARP Hawai`i and Senior Planet are offering free technology classes at Kaunoa Senor Center in Paia on Aug. 2 and at the Generations Magazine Aging in Place Conference on Oahu on Aug. 3.
AARP Hawai`i is presenting six sessions at the Aging in Place Conference on Saturday, Aug. 3 at the Ala Moana Hotel betwen 8 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Tech topics include smart homes, digital wallets and streaming and smart tvs. Other topics include understanding care and housing options, the six pillars of brain health, and fraud prevention.
On Maui, kupuna will learn about managing their private information online and about artificial intelligence and how to recognize when something has been created by AI. The online privacy class starts at 9 a.m. and the artificial intelligence class is at 10:30 a.m. at the Kaunoa Senior Center, 401 Alakapa Place.
There’s no charge, but registration is requested. Click on the events link at aarp.org/local or the AARP Hawai`i Facebook page and click on upcoming events to see what AARP is offering on Maui and to register. Participants can also call 877-926-8300. You do not have to be a member nor of AARP age to register.
