Donations Needed for Expanded Food Programs

food

The coronavirus pandemic finds older adults still sheltering at home, wary of even trips to the grocery store. By donating to food banks, Hawaii residents can help ensure that kupuna eat nourishing fare.

Food programs significantly expanded last year. AARP Hawaii, actively involved in the effort, encourages people to give food or cash to local food banks.

Donations are welcome at food banks on every island: Hawaii Foodbank on Oahu and Kauai, Kauai Independent Foodbank and Maui Food Bank.

Also seeking contributions: the Big Island’s Hawaii Food Basket
and through the statewide Kupuna Food Security Coalition.

Volunteer Week will be April 18–24 at kanuhawaii.org.
