Letting Caregivers Know They're Not Alone

Caregivers-logo-2-300x300

Dorothy Arriola Colby knows the challenges that about 154,000 family caregivers in Hawaii face daily. A dementia care specialist and caregiving trainer, Colby will share her expertise with these unpaid heroes at two free conferences this month on Oahu and the Big Island of Hawaii.

Family members who help loved ones continue to live at home can become isolated and frustrated. The conferences will offer support to show they are not alone. In addition to workshops and an information fair, participants will get an update on legislation affecting caregivers.

The Honolulu event is March 24 at the Japanese Cultural Center, 2454 S. Beretania St. The Hilo conference is March 31 at the Hawaii Aging and Disability Resource Center, 1055 Kinoole St. Registration is required at bit.ly/aarpHIevents or by calling 877-926-8300 toll-free.
