Long-Term Care Among Priorities as Lawmakers Return to Statehouse

State Capitol Building - Hawaii

When lawmakers return to the state Legislature in January, AARP Hawaii plans to push for more affordable housing options and increased access to long-term care.

Among other priorities for AARP and its volunteer advocates will be legislation to lower the cost of prescription drugs, such as an insulin price cap for the privately insured; fund a state Alzheimer’s disease coordinator; provide dementia training for first responders and health care workers; expand telehealth insurance coverage to allow for audio as well as video sessions; and increase high-speed internet access.

With a new legislature, governor and lieutenant governor taking office, now’s the time to get involved.

You can join the volunteer advocacy team by emailing hiaarp@aarp.org.
