Telephone Forum with U.S. Sen. Mazie Hirono looks at Lower Rx Drug Prices

U.S. Sen. Mazie Hirono will answer kupuna questions on how the Inflation Reduction Act will lower prescription drug prices for Medicare recipients at a live telephone forum sponsored by AARP Hawai`i on Saturday, Dec. 17 at 9 a.m.

Participants who participate in the telephone town hall will get a chance to ask the senator questions about what the Inflation Reduction Act will do to lower their drug costs and about other legislation before Congress. To participate in the free telephone town hall, kupuna can go to vekeo.com/aarpHawaii to sign up to receive a phone call Saturday morning. People interested can call (866) 295-7282 for more information or to sign up by phone. They can also watch a Facebook Live simulcast on the @aarphawaii Facebook page or call 1-866-654-9490 at 9 a.m. on Saturday to dial in to the town hall. You do not have to be an AARP member to participate.

The Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 allows Medicare to negotiate the price of prescription drugs, limits what Medicare recipients pay out-of-pocket for their prescriptions to $2,000 a year, caps Medicare insulin co-pays at $35per month and provides access to free vaccines for seniors. Millions of kupuna will save money as a result of this legislation.
