AARP Hawaii worked with the state Health Department, Hawaii Emergency Management Agency and community pharmacies to vaccinate vulnerable community care home residents. That includes those in foster care and homes for individuals with developmental disabilities.
AARP Hawaii advocated to make sure those who live in the state’s more than 1,600 community care homes were given the same priority as nursing homes.
“We want to thank the state Department of Human Services, the Hawaii Emergency Management Agency, the Hawaii State Department of Health and the community pharmacies who stepped up to handle the logistical challenges involved in protecting many of Hawaii’s most vulnerable residents,” said Keali`i Lopez, AARP state director.
