As part of a long-standing commitment to provide tools, information, and programs that support experienced workers at various stages of their career, AARP is hosting an Online Career Fair focused on Part-Time Work on Jan. 26, from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. This live, online event provides the 50+ with the opportunity to recharge their job search, and connect with local and national employers – all from the comfort of home!
More than 40 employers that are looking for part time workers will participate in the free online fair. Current exhibitors include: Avis Budget Group, First Transit, Army & Air Force Exchange Service, Lord & Taylor, Washington Nationals and Emory Healthcare.
During the Virtual Career Fair, participants can live chat with recruiters, view job openings and submit résumés. They’ll learn how to transition volunteer experience into paid opportunities, and receive cutting-edge job search advice during four live webinars and a half-dozen chat sessions. Attendees can connect with other job-seekers and play games specifically designed to sharpen job search skills. Participants will also be able to access AARP’s new Digital Skills Inventory, created to help job-seekers assess and polish the digital skills necessary to find or keep a job.
“Thousands of older Louisianans are looking for part-time work,” said Denise Bottcher, ARRP Louisiana State Director. "AARP has created a special online event to embrace, empower and encourage older adults to achieve their career goals. I hope folks will make the most of this opportunity in their quest to find meaningful employment.”
