AARP Louisiana Partners with Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center to Offer Healthy Living Programming

AARP Louisiana has partnered with Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center to offer a series of healthy living workshops to the community. The programming is part of Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center's Prevention on the Go program and aligns with AARP’s healthy living social mission. The workshops will provide Louisianans with important information to make informed decisions about their health.

"While there are many factors that come in to play when it comes to someone getting cancer, we know there are things we can do to prevent the disease," said Dr. Charles Wood, medical director of radiation oncology, Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center. "We hope many community members will participate in these virtual workshops to learn more how good nutrition and simple acts such as wearing sunscreen can play a critical role in decreasing their risk for cancer.”

“As part of AARP’s Healthy living social mission, we are pleased to collaborate with the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center for this two-part series focusing on healthy nutrition, meal plate presentation, and tips for healthy skin for early detection and cancer prevention,” said Troy J. Broussard, AARP Louisiana advocacy & outreach director. “AARP seeks to help Louisianans get healthy and stay healthy by developing good habits for the future.”

The series consists of two FREE virtual prevention on the go workshops presented by Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center.
