Azalea blooms remind me of my grandmother who loved tilling in the soil and watching the fruits of her labor….literally. Her fig trees were enormous! One of my fondest memories is waking up on a warm Saturday morning at her house and grabbing a big bowl to pick fresh figs for breakfast. There’s nothing like fresh picked fruits and vegetables.
Have you considered exploring the possibility of growing your own food in your backyard?
Join AARP Louisiana at a gardening workshop called Yard to Table and learn how to grow vegetables and herbs in your backyard. Licensed master gardeners will teach you how to build and maintain a garden and how to grow vegetables from seeds. You’ll leave with a packet full of seeds to get started and recipes to enjoy the fruits of your labor.
Now is the perfect time to imagine the endless possibilities warm weather brings!
