Together, they bring decades of leadership, advocacy, and service experience to strengthen communities and empower residents 50+ to live their best lives.

Alfred E. Mason, Ascension

As state president, Alfred Mason leads Louisiana’s all-volunteer Executive Council and serves as the principal AARP volunteer spokesperson. A retired department manager from Deluxe Check Printers, Alfred brings decades of leadership, community service, and legislative advocacy experience. In 2021, he received AARP’s prestigious Andrus Award for Community Service.

Mike Benson, Baton Rouge

With over 40 years in broadcasting, Mike Benson recently retired from a standout career in radio sales and management. His leadership extends beyond media through community service, including time as Chairman for the Better Business Bureau of Southeast Louisiana.

A lifelong public health advocate and educator, Susan Daigle brings deep expertise in environmental health, emergency preparedness, and coaching. Her career includes extensive research, grant procurement, and recognition through numerous awards for outstanding service.

An accomplished attorney and executive director for the Louisiana Committee on Bar Admissions, Monique Drake has been a longtime AARP volunteer, offering expertise in advocacy, law, and career coaching. She is deeply committed to public service and empowering others through life's transitions.

Larry Hawkins, Shreveport

Larry Hawkins, a retired law enforcement officer and current funeral director, is a dedicated volunteer leader. He’s spent years with AARP’s Driver Safety program and continues to give back through community fundraising efforts and advocacy for healthcare and fraud prevention.

Natalie B. Mason, Ascension

A retired U.S. Postal Service finance specialist, Natalie Mason has been a cornerstone AARP Louisiana volunteer for over a decade. She leads volunteer recruitment and training efforts and is widely recognized for her deep commitment to community service.

A nurse practitioner and healthcare advocate, Patsy McClanahan has devoted nearly five decades to improving healthcare in Louisiana. She has shaped health policy, fought for access to care, and remains a passionate advocate for older adults facing healthcare and fraud challenges.

With over 50 years in nursing and education — including military service — Nellie Prudho brings expertise in clinical care, teaching, research, and emergency response. Her leadership strengthens AARP’s focus on health advocacy and mentorship.

A retired Navy veteran and former dental hygienist, LaDonna Taylor now empowers others through life, health, and wellness coaching. Her passion for personal development and her extensive volunteerism energize her work with AARP Louisiana.
