AARP Michigan is working on the “Menopause: It’s a Movement!” campaign, led by the Michigan Women’s Commission. Since March, women from across the state have attended panels in which menopause experts seek to help them better advocate for their midlife health. Their stories — and potential policy changes — will be included in a March 2026 report detailing possible next steps.

AARP Foundation is teaming up with Fair Food Network to spread the word about Fair Food Network’s statewide SNAP incentive program, Double Up Food Bucks. Through a volunteer effort in grocery stores in Detroit, Grand Rapids and Battle Creek, we aim to increase participation in Double Up—especially among older adults.
Lisa Dedden Cooper, Manager of Advocacy for AARP Michigan, made these comments to the member of the Senate Judiciary Committee on Sept. 23:
Nonpartisan AARP released voter guides today featuring positions from U.S. Senate, Congressional and Gubernatorial and other statewide candidates – in their own words – on critical issues including Social Security, Medicare, and financial security. Voters of all ages may view the voter guides at www.aarp.org/yourvote.
Two Flint area students and a Perry student captured top honors in AARP Michigan’s 5 th annual “Why I Love My Grandparents” Essay Contest.
AARP Michigan strongly supports Senate Bill 2, which would allow Advanced Practice Registered Nurses to use the full extent of their training and education to treat patients.
AARP Michigan advocates on policy issues that matter the most to Michigan residents aged 50 and over, and their families: financial security; affordable, quality health care; and age-friendly communities in which to live.
LANSING, MI —AARP Foundation Tax-Aide, the nation’s largest free, volunteer-run tax preparation and assistance service, is seeking volunteer tax-preparers in 36 counties across Michigan to help residents who need assistance preparing and filing their 2014 returns.
