Join the Walk for Warmth this Friday, Feb. 21 in Jackson to help raise money for and awareness about utility assistance, one of the most urgent unmet needs in Jackson County.

Funds will be raised to help eligible residents avoid utility shut-off and the fees associated with re-connection.

The Community Action Agency-sponsored Walk for Warmth begins at 12 noon at Consumers Energy Headquarters, One Energy Plaza, in downtown Jackson. All walkers are welcome. Registration begins at 11 a.m.

Donate at the walk or online at http://www.caajlh.org/  All funds raised go to help neighbors in Jackson County. Call 517-784-4800 for more information.

AARP Michigan has donated a special grant to the Community Action Agency to help with utility assistance for multi-generational households with family members 50 and older.

“We at AARP are pleased to do what we can to help residents in need avoid utility emergencies, especially at this time of year,” said AARP Michigan State Director Jacqueline Morrison.
