Matching Job Seekers with Openings

Michigan has about 100,000 job openings that employers have been unable to fill. At the same time, many older Michiganders are interested in part-time or full-time work and have skills and expertise that these employers may find attractive.

To fill the gaps, AARP Michigan is working with the Michigan Economic Development Corp., Michigan Works and local chambers of commerce to launch a pilot project called Experience for Hire.

The project—which is under way in Wayne, Macomb, Ingham and Jackson counties—matches older workers with appropriate and available jobs in the marketplace.
