(Jackson, MS) - This Valentine’s Day, February 14, AARP Mississippi is teaming up with Wish of a Lifetime from AARP to distribute roses as a part of the 12th annual Cupid Crew initiative, a nationwide effort to connect with older adults at risk for isolation – and send them love. This year, we’re excited to announce that volunteers will be delivering over 240,000 roses throughout the country.
No matter the age, we all need connection to thrive physically and emotionally. The continuing problem of social isolation threatens the health and mental well-being of millions of people in the U.S. Through Cupid Crew, Wish of a Lifetime encourages people of all ages, in communities both big and small, to help isolated older adults feel more connected and loved.
AARP Mississippi Volunteers from the Gulf Coast, Southaven, and Vicksburg will deliver roses to community centers, retirement homes, and churches on Valentine's Day between the hours of 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Southaven volunteer group will deliver to: The Goldton, a senior living community, and Brown Missionary Baptist Church - The Senior Living Housing.
The Gulf Coast volunteer group will deliver to Moss Point Senior Center and the Ocean Springs Senior Center.
The Vicksburg volunteer group will deliver to the following churches: Mt. Pilgrim, Mt. Calvary, Trinity Temple, Pleasant Valley, Shiloh, Ebenezer, as well as the Vicksburg Senior Center.
