AARP Eye Center
More than $65,000 was awarded to four projects in Mississippi as part of this year’s AARP Community Challenge grants program.
The recipients:
- The Harrison County Library System received $7,628 to provide wheeled walkers at three branches for patrons with limited mobility, as well as to expand its collection of large-print books.
- The Jackson Heart Foundation received $18,000 to install hydration stations and rest areas along a walking and biking trail.
- The Laurel-Jones County Library System in Laurel received $20,000 to transform a trolley into a mobile library and technology hub for older rural adults.
- Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College received $20,000 to build outdoor fitness stations at a popular walking track.
