Annual shredding day returns to Omaha May 17

AARP volunteers and Shred-It staff team up for free community shredding day at The Center Mall in Omaha.



Back by popular demand for the ninth year, AARP Nebraska and Shred-It will host a free community shredding day in Omaha on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at The Center Mall on 42 nd and Center Sts.

People can avoid becoming victims of identity theft by shredding sensitive documents with personal information, such as cancelled checks, credit card offers, old bank and financial statements and medical bills.

The drive-through shredding session will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the east end of the top level of The Center Mall’s parking lot. People should enter the parking lot at 41 st & Center Sts. State-of-the-art mobile shredders will be set up on site and unloading assistance will be provided.  For more information, call (402) 398-9568.

The event gives consumers an opportunity to have their confidential documents destroyed free of charge by trained Shred-It staff. Shred-It is a document destruction company with more than 150 branches in North America.

The free service is offered to consumers who bring their household documents; no businesses please.
