Tax-Aide Offers Limited Services in 2021

Tax anxiety

Due to the ongoing pandemic, AARP Foundation Tax-Aide services in Nebraska will be offered on a limited basis to ensure the safety of clients and the volunteers who provide the service. At the current time, there will be no in-person tax preparation. Assistance will be available by appointment only.

Options include:

  • Go to the website to select options and begin your request for Tax-Aide assistance.
  • One option is to prepare your own taxes: Tax-Aide provides consumers access to software to prepare their own taxes, and if needed, a Tax-Aide IRS-certified counselor can coach them through the process by phone or through computer screen-sharing.  This service is free for qualifying clients with an Adjusted Gross Income of less than $72,000 a year. For additional qualification details visit: https://taxaide.aarpfoundation.org/online-self-filing-software or click here to contact a Tax-Aide volunteer to discuss your situation and see what services are available to you.

In addition, taxpayers may request assistance from volunteers in the following locations.

Omaha Metro

Beginning Feb. 25, interested taxpayers may leave a message at one of the numbers listed below. Tax-Aide volunteers will return calls to the interested taxpayers explaining the virtual tax preparation process, which will begin in March.

Volunteers will provide instructions to the taxpayer on how to scan and upload their tax documents.

There will also be limited opportunities for taxpayers without email access to make an appointment so that volunteers can scan and upload their tax documents for them.
