AARP Las Cruces Chapter Meeting, Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2 p.m. – This month’s program will be on the 2020 Census and why participating in the Census is so important to both the state and local communities. The Chapter meets at Senior Amigos, 3948 E Lohman. The chapter meets the third Wednesday of the month.

AARP’s Movies for Grownups, Thursday, Feb. 12, at 7 p.m. – In honor of Black History Month, AARP’s Movies for Grownups will be showing the movie “Harriet”, the extraordinary tale of Harriet Tubman's escape from slavery and transformation into one of America's greatest heroes. Her courage, ingenuity, and tenacity freed hundreds of slaves and changed the course of history. AARP Information Tables --- The Chapter will have an information table at the Farmer's Market downtown on Saturday, Feb. 1, from 8 a.m. to noon. Information provided include topics such as fraud prevention, caregiving resources and the basics of Medicare, among others. The Chapter will be at the Farmer’s Market on the first Saturday of each month going forward.

Identity Theft and Scams, Monday, Jan. 27, at 1 p.m. – Learn how to protect your identity, avoid scams and what to look for. The presentation will be at Senior Amigos, Senior Amigos, 3948 E Lohman.

Disrupt Aging, Monday, Feb. 17, at 1 p.m. --- Discuss how to change the perceptions and attitudes toward aging and living your best life. The presentation will be at Senior Amigos, Senior Amigos, 3948 E Lohman.

Driver Safety

Refresh your driving skills with the AARP Driver Safety Course. Learn defensive driving techniques, proven safety strategies, new traffic laws and rules of the road. No tests to pass! Upon completion you will receive a multi-year discount on your auto insurance premium. Classes are $15 for AARP members and $20 non-members. Cash or check must be provided for payment at the start of class. Credit cards are not accepted.
