AARP RI Will Push for Retirement Savings Program in 2023 Legislative Session

Retirement Savings

In the upcoming legislative session, AARP Rhode Island will advocate for the creation of a retirement program that would be managed in a public-private partnership between the state government and the private sector.

Workers are far more likely to save for retirement if a portion of their paycheck is automatically deducted and deposited into a retirement savings account, research shows.

A 2022 AARP poll found that 72 percent of Rhode Island smallbusiness owners support a privately managed retirement savings option for their employees. But many don’t offer such plans due to costs and other hurdles. Learn more at aarp.org/RISavers.
