"Hungry in the West End" is W3 Silver Award Winner

AARP RI's senior hunger documentary honored once again

(New York) AARP Rhode Island's Hungry in the West End, the compelling eight-part Web series on senior hunger, has received a W³ Silver Award, recognizing the creative professionals behind award-winning websites, videos and marketing programs. The W³ Award is sanctioned and judged by the International Academy of the Visual Arts.

W³ honors the best use of the Internet among businesses, advertising & marketing agencies and non-profits.  Other Silver Award winners include Accenture, Bloomberg, Digitas, McCann Erickson, National Geographic, RED Interactive, Scholastic, Inc., Taco Bell and United Healthcare.

"This award represents, I believe, how much people appreciate the work being done around the country to address senior hunger," said producer-director John Martin. "W³ is a world-class competition and, clichés' aside, it is indeed an honor to be mentioned in the company of the other winners."

Hungry in the West End premiered as an eight-part Web series in January and in March won Best Documentary at the Los Angeles International Web Series Festival. Subsequently, it was an Official Selection at the Melbourne (Australia) Web Festival; the Rhode Island International Film Festival; and the Independent Television and Film Festival. The documentary was screened in August at the national conference of the Meals on Wheels Association of America.
