The 2023 election for the next mayor of Memphis will be a hotly contested race, with many candidates vying for your vote. Every voice and every vote matters!
But there are so many dates and deadline to keep track of – that’s where AARP comes in. We’ve compiled all the important dates and resources to make sure you can exercise your right to vote for the next mayor.

There may have been district changes since the last local election, so double-check your Polling Location and District Information before election day!
Registered voters in Memphis will go to the polls on October 5, primary election day in the City of Memphis. Before then, there are some key dates to be aware of as you prepare to vote:
July 7: First Day for Absentee Request
September 5: Voter Registration Deadline (Register to Vote: www.GoVoteTN.com)
September 15: First Day of Early Voting
September 28: Last Day to Request an Absentee Ballot
September 30: Last Day of Early Voting
October 5: Primary Election Day
If none of the candidates receives at least 51% of the vote during the October 5 primary, the top two vote-getters will enter into a run-off, which is scheduled to be held on November 16, 2023.
