AARP DC Volunteer Leader Opportunities

Volunteers in action

Are you interested in using your skills and talents to serve your neighborhood? AARP DC needs your service as a volunteer Ward Liaison!

Volunteer Ward Liaison opportunities are available in Wards 1, 2, 3 and 8. We hope to fill these positions by June 30, 2017.

The AARP District of Columbia State Volunteer Ward Liaisons are involved in a range of activities, which may include, but are not limited to:

  • Building relationships with DC City Council members,
  • Advising on opportunities for local activities and events,
  • Recruiting new volunteers and advocacy related to issues impacting older adults and their families in DC, and
  • Serving as a representative of their Ward and as a consultant to their assigned AARP DC Associate State Director staff member.

To learn more about this volunteer opportunity, please contact Shannon Redd at sredd@aarp.org or call 202-434-7702.

It is the policy of the Association that all AARP volunteers will receive equal opportunity and treatment throughout recruitment, appointment, training, and service.  There will be no discrimination based on age, disabilities, gender, race, national or ethnic origin, religion, economic status, or sexual orientation.
