Speak Up for Age-Friendly Programs in the D.C. Budget

sustainable communities

Advocating for an age-friendly city budget is an ongoing task for AARP District of Columbia. In the New Year, the organization is urging elected officials to protect funding for programs affecting older adults, including home-delivered meals, nutrition services and community dining, which offers hot lunches in group settings for people 60 and older.

Other budget items include Safe at Home, a service to adapt homes to make them safer for qualifying older residents and people with disabilities, as well as programs that support affordable housing, accessible transportation and caregiver grandparents.

Make your views known before Mayor Muriel Bowser submits her proposed budget in early spring. Want to volunteer as an advocate? Email dcaarp@aarp.org.
