On Friday, August 19, 2022, AARP West Virginia leaders joined Senator Joe Manchin III in Charleston for a roundtable discussion on the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) of 2022.
AARP West Virginia State Director Gaylene Miller and Associate State Director-Advocacy Angela Vance discussed the IRA's historic prescription drug price reforms that will help rein in out-of-control costs.
AARP West Virginia leaders were among the issue experts invited by Senator Manchin to participate in the hour-long discussion, which focused on Senior Issues and Health Care, Industry/Energy Security Issues, Tax Issues and IRS disinformation.
The Inflation Reduction Act will lower costs for older Americans by allowing Medicare to negotiate drug prices, capping out-of-pocket insulin costs at $35 per month, and capping Medicare beneficiaries' out-of-pocket costs at $2,000 per year.
