Scheduled to appear is Zimbabwe’s hottest young band Mokoomba, who have toured over 40 countries and are coming to West Virginia for the first time.
Also on the bill is David Amram, a living legend of world, folk and jazz music. This composer, arranger and multi-instrumentalist has collaborated with Leonard Bernstein and Willie Nelson, Dizzy Gillespie and Frank Sinatra, to name only a few.
His movie scores include 1962’s “The Manchurian Candidate” and he was the first composer I residence for the New York Philharmonic. A trio of today’s critically acclaimed singer-songwriters round out the two-hour show; Joe Pug, Curtis McMurtry and Okkervil River.
For more than 30 years Mountain Stage with Larry Groce has been the home of live music on public radio. Produced by West Virginia Public Broadcasting and distributed by NPR Music, Mountain Stage is heard weekly on over 200 public radio stations across the country.
Each show features a variety of performers, established and emerging, all recorded with the excitement and spontaneity of live-performance.
