Celebrating and Supporting Black Entrepreneurs of All Ages

supporting and celebrating Black entrepreneurs of all ages

Did you know that August is National Black Business Month? Would you like to learn more about how you can better support Black-owned businesses in your community? Are you looking for information about how AARP supports entrepreneurship for those 50 and older? Tune in to the latest installment of Thursdays With AARP Wisconsin on Thursday August 20, at 11:00am CT, to learn more about this subject from Felicia Brown, Senior Advisor with AARP’s Financial Resilience Programming, and Deshea Agee, Executive Director of Historic King Drive Business Improvement District No. 8

During this live event, Felicia will be showcasing some of the ways that AARP supports these businesses and entrepreneurs as part of our ongoing mission to empower all people to choose how they live as they age. Inspired by the belief that entrepreneurship can be a path to financial security for people 50 and older, AARP has many resources to help with this process that you might not know about. On a more local level, Deshea will join the conversation to discuss the work that Historic King Drive BID 8 is doing in Milwaukee to support and celebrate entrepreneurs and small businesses. Established in 1992, this organization is dedicated to revitalizing this historic district in Milwaukee by providing entrepreneurs with resources to help them achieve their business goals while also ensuring that the culture and character of the community persists and thrives.

You can also join this conversation by sharing your comments and/or questions live via Facebook and YouTube, or you can send your questions before, during, or after the presentation to ammiller@aarp.org.
