AARP Eye Center
We have postponed our “Get to Know AARP” volunteer recruitment and orientation events that were scheduled for April and May. While convening events such as this is a core part of our mission, we have changed our approach in light of the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. We understand that you may still be interested in finding volunteer opportunities at this time, both with AARP Wisconsin and with other organizations. Here are some ways you can help:
AARP Community Connections Program
Find or start a mutual aid program in your area using the AARP Community Connections Program. Mutual aid groups are informal groups of volunteers that band together to find effective ways to support those people most in need who live in their local community. Mutual aid can include picking up groceries, providing financial assistance, or lending emotional support to your neighbors.

Share Our Social Media Content
AARP works to make sure the content we post on Facebook and Twitter is useful and at this time, we are sharing information about the COVID-19 outbreak, related legislation, and ways you can connect with us virtually to get more information. You can share our Facebook posts and retweet our posts on Twitter to keep up with what’s happening and help those in your social circle keep up as well.

We are hoping to get back out on the road later this year when it is safe to meet face-to-face again. If you’re interested in getting involved with our volunteer groups that focus on livable communities, fraud prevention, or advocacy, please fill out this form and we’ll get in touch with you when we’re ready to commence work on those projects again.
Find Volunteer Opportunities From Home
Check out www.createthegood.aarp.org to find other options available on our volunteer opportunity board.
At AARP, we have been promoting the health and well-being of older Americans for over 60 years. Our top priority is the health and well-being of staff, volunteers, members and the community at large. We are monitoring developments closely and have taken all precautions recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and local public health agencies.
We want you to know that AARP is providing information and resources to help older people and caregivers protect themselves from the virus and prevent its spread. You can find AARP's coronavirus resources at www.aarp.org/coronavirus. We also point you to www.cdc.gov/coronavirus, and your state and local health agency for the latest information.
We appreciate your interest in participating in our “Get to Know AARP” events and value your joining with us in advancing the interests of older Americans. AARP wishes you and your family continued health, and we will continue to provide information to help you and your loved ones stay safe.
